    Terrible thread title.
Should have been: "Attempted carjacking gone right in MoCo"

    It was just a joke…sort of…

Like most of MD's firearms laws. (And doubtless other laws, as well).

The state would be better served if the GA was limited to a two week session, once a year.
They'd have to focus on actual problematic issues, and grandstanding would be limited. (Of course, that's predicated on the assumption that the primary mission of the GA is not grandstanding, which may not be the case).

Those guys didn't need guns. You can definitely kill someone by making them try to swallow a Popeye's biscuit. Or, just throw it at them - they have roughly the density of depleted Uranium.

Huh, in the popeye's down my way - haven't had a bad biscuit yet. *But yeah, if they're not fresh, they're weapon-grade.

**And I'm the psycho that eats the biscuits w/out ever touching a drink...

That’s because the number of carjackings in Montgomery County is on track to reach another record year. According to recent data from the county, 74 carjackings have been reported so far this year. That’s compared to 80 for all of 2022.

Everything's fine. Stop worrying about it.
Some more background on this with a lot more stats for MoCo and nearby jurisdictions:

Of course you have the typical excuse from Montgomery County Councilmember Natali Fani-González (D-Dist. 6). Her district includes Wheaton. Apparently her long-term approach for reducing carjackings is improving the lives of young people who are likely to commit these crimes.

Sixteen percent of the carjackings which have occurred this year have been at or around the Wheaton Mall.

    What a clown.

Aren't the lives of these young people already improved after illegally acquiring an expensive and desirable piece of property from someone else?

****No question. I just wish they would steal and carjack council members cars vs the people who might want to keep their vehicles to be able to get to work, the market, or the gun range.

Be a shame if more car jackers were just shot dead attempting to steal someone's car, and that it really really hurt as they were dying.

People like her and people that support her are the reason that this will never get better.

She has "radical empathy" for the criminal and cold indifference for the victims.
