As of yesterday, Arsenal Attorneys (that's Dick Heller's lawyer) has filed a complaint in the US District Court for DC against the District of Columbia and the MPD police chief seeking to overturn DC's assault weapon registration restrictions on Second Amendment grounds.

The complaint is available on PACER and I have uploaded a copy to review here.

I found this subparagraph particularly charming:

DC’s Unconstitutional Ban on So-Called “Assault Weapons

Code § 7-2501.01 defines “assault weapons"

    as follows:

As used in this unit the term:

    (3A)(A) “Assault weapon” means:

(iii) Any firearm that the Chief may designate as an assault weapon by

rule, based on a determination that the firearm would reasonably

pose the same or similar danger to the health, safety, and security of

the residents of the District as those weapons enumerated in this

Until I read that, I was pleased to think that the various Plaintiffs might be allowed to own a Czech VZ58, an improved but not interchangeable AK style rifle, so innocent as to be legal for purchase even in Maryland.

But I'm reasonably certain that the Chief would exercise his unlimited discriminatory power to deny them this remedy. No Roof Koreans (or lawyers, or natural citizens either) in DC!

    GO TYLER Y (et al)!

We need to vote in a Republican Congress. That is the 0nly way to revoke D.C. Home rule.
