Does anyone use the storage space in an AR-15 grip? I got a new Magpul grip and when I was ordering I noticed Magpul sells different grip inserts for different things. Oiler, spare firing pin, etc. So for fun I got the spare firing pin (and bolt) storage insert along with an extra firing pin (not bolt). I was going to get the oiler insert but the reviews said it was near useless since it was so hard to get out.

I keep spare bolt parts and batteries in mine.

I have a couple of older red dots that use batteries and one of them uses two AA's. While I have not had to replace the batteries since I bought it six or seven years ago I do keep spare batteries in the pistol grip. I have another they are pistol that has a foregrip mounted laser and I keep two sets of the button batteries for that in its pistol grip.

Two of my ARs are fitted with pistol grips that have storage compartments (my OlyArms and my BCM), and I don't think I've used them for that purpose yet. But I like having the storage space regardless. I'd probably use the grip storage for optics/WML battery storage if I were out in the field for an extended period of time.
