You keep blaming MSP, when in point of fact, MSP has removed what barriers they are administratively able to. You want "them to sort it out" then get off your ass and put the time, in Annapolis, where it is needed, it really is that simple.

An interesting statistic would be of the multiple databases that are legislatively mandated to be checked just how many people who are denied are because of each database per thousands of applicants checked? And how many denials are shown on only a single database so they might get approved if that database was not checked?

If they only did a NICS check how many applications would be improperly approved?

I would question any denials of a person who can purchase a gun but not carry it.

Same question how many can buy a gun and keep it at home but not carry it? I would argue anyone who can legally possess one at home should be able to legally carry one in public…

We are past 50000 since Bruen

I have never seen a statute that mandates that 15 data bases be checked. IIRC the statute says based “on an investigation”

I see no statute compelling MSP to check 15 databases.

I think MSP does this without a legal requirement. BTW I did not look in COMAR

The only thing in the statute is submitting prints to CJIS and FBI and “conducting an investigation”

Not required by my reading https://www.law.cornell.edu/regulations/maryland/COMAR-29-03-02-03

B. Investigation Criteria. The following areas will be a part of the investigation of every applicant and will be considered by the Secretary in determining whether a permit will be issued:
(1) Age of the applicant;
(2) Occupation, profession, or employment of the applicant;
(3) Verification of the applicant's qualifications;
(4) Verification of the information supplied by the applicant in the application;
(5) Information received from personal references and other persons interviewed;
(6) Information received from business or employment references as may be necessary in the discretion of the investigator;
(7) Criminal record of applicant, including any juvenile record for an applicant younger than 30 years old;
(8) Medical history of applicant as it may pertain to the applicant's fitness to carry, wear, or transport a handgun;
(9) Psychiatric or psychological background of the applicant as it may pertain to the applicant's fitness to carry, wear, or transport a handgun;
(10) The applicant's propensity for violence or instability which could reasonably render the applicant's wearing, carrying, or transporting of a handgun a danger to the applicant or to others;
(11) The applicant's use of intoxicating beverages and drugs;
(12) The reasons given by the applicant for carrying, wearing, or transporting a handgun, and whether those reasons are good and substantial; and
(13) Whether the permit is necessary as a reasonable precaution for the applicant against apprehended danger.

I think so too… my app# was 960xx, and now I’ve seen some in the 100’s. I know the app and permit # logic’s a little hokey, but I think there’s enough after me to push us to the six digit numbers.
