Welcome to the 2024 Appleseed thread! I didn’t post as much last year due to a new job but will try to do a better job this year.

We already have a loaded schedule and may have even more opportunities for some of our specialized clinics to be announced as the year progresses. You can find Maryland events here: https://appleseedinfo.org/schedule/?qstate=MD&state=Maryland

    Rifle Marksmanship Clinics
A lot of you are probably interested in our standard one and two day Rifle Marksmanship clinics - we hope to have at least 20 of those scheduled once we finalize with some of our ranges. Our Rifle Marksmanship clinics are fun, and your shooting will improve whatever your starting skill level! You will also learn the history of April 19, 1775 and the shot heard round the world.

What is the difference between a One Day and Two Day Event?
We understand that some folks cannot dedicate an entire weekend to one activity due to family, personal, and work commitments. And seasonally, it is less pleasant to sweat or freeze for two days in a row. We therefore have different versions of the courses to accommodate shooters of all kinds. The One Day events includes the entire basic course of instruction, history, and, typically, one or two chances to qualify as Rifleman in a single day. It can be a pretty intense event - you will certainly "drink from a firehose" of instruction. The Two Day events expand the course of instruction to include more lessons, drills, Red Coat targets, and, of course, more chances to qualify as Rifleman.

    Pistol Clinics
We have now 5 2-day pistol clinics on the calendar in Maryland at Marriottsville (1 already sold out!) and Thurmont. Appleseed Pistol Clinics focuse on building pistol handling and marksmanship, with some defensive skills in the mix - it is a challenging course of fire for even experienced pistol shooters but will certainly bring a new shooter along very quickly as well.

Rimfire Known Distance Clinics (200 yards)
We have TWO one-day Rimfire Known Distance clinics on the calendar in Marriottsville, which held a successful event last year. We hope to add one more. These events move beyond scaled targets at 25 meters and push shooters and equipment as they engage targets between 50 and 200 yards from all the positions Appleseed teaches with a 22LR rifle. You have to have attended a prior Appleseed event but do not have to be a Rifleman. This is one of our most challenging courses, but also one of the most rewarding!

    Centerfire Known Distance (400 yards)
We hope to schedule our first local-ish centerfire known distance event this year at Peacemaker or a range on the Eastern Shore - stay tuned!

    Ladyseed Clinics
We had our first Maryland Ladyseed event in many years in 2023 and hope to convert one of our 2024 events to a LS in the fall. With an expanded cadre of female instructors leading the way, it is an Appleseed designed specifically for women and offers the opportunity for women to shoot, share and get to know each other in a comfortable learning environment.

    Private Clinics
And if that was not enough, we are already working with several groups on private events, such as "MilSeeds" for military units looking for their own event or youth groups. If you have a group that would be interested in a private event, feel free to contact me.

With so many moving pieces, please subscribe to this thread to get updates!

Sign-up MUST be done online. All attendees MUST register online. For full fee schedule, including potential range fees, go to the registration for each event.

    Events in Maryland

Appleseed has events in Southern PA that are very convenient to folks north of Baltimore and hope you check them out.

    Events in Pennsylvania

Clinics in West Virginia and Virginia, including indoor events at the NRA range, may also be convenient for you. They each have great crews of folks and also get "border raider" instructors from the Maryland cadre.

    Events in Virginia

If you know of a range that might be interested in hosting, let me know.

These classes usually sell out quickly and we have a few groups that may buy-out entire events; sign up NOW to assure your spot on the line!

Finally, if you have been an instructor or volunteer in the past and want to get involved with the program again, we certainly want you back!

Happy to answer any questions you may have in this thread or by PM. And looking forward to posting more new events, AARs, and other fun stuff as the year begins.

    And, let’s get started right.

Ladies, may we have your attention please! In honor of, and getting a head start on, Women's History Month in March, Project Appleseed is pleased to announce that ladies will receive 20% off their tickets to ANY 25 meter rifle event taking place in the month of March.

A father and son braved the weird weather here to make it to their first Appleseed and our first event of 2024. Temps were not quite freezing (no Winterseed patches up for grabs) but the rain and wind chill made it feel like it was.

In the morning, shooting the redcoat target, Tom was able to get a round in Morgan's shingle. Thomas was able to improve his marksmanship throughout the day going from softball size groups to near 4 moa. Shooting the last redcoat, Tom came very close to clearing it and Thomas proved he could also hit the shingle.

Tom W walked away qualifying Rifleman with a score of 211. Devlin M (Liberty Boy) got some more practice today and requalified Rifleman with a score of 222. Huzzah to our first two Riflemen of 2024!

Is the rimfire KD event pretty much the same format as what you did in Sudlersville a few years back? I did a couple of those events and had a blast, so I'm curious if this is the same idea but closer to me.

Yes, pretty much the same format as Sudlersville with some adjustments in terms of timing. We would love to have you back!

For the PQT, the COF is as follows:

    Stage 1 - Rapid Fire: 1 mag of 10, 10 rounds in 10 seconds
Stage 2 - Controlled Pairs: Mags of 6 and 4, alternate pairs between left and right targets (6 on the left, 4 on the right) in 15 seconds
Stage 3 - Left Hand Only: 1 mag of 5, 5 rounds in 15 seconds
Stage 4 - Right Hand Only: 1 mag of 5, 5 rounds in 15 seconds
    Stage 5 - Slow Fire: 1 mag of 10, 10 rounds in 2 minutes on 4 small targets (2, 2, 3, 3 left to right)

    210 to qualify Pistoleer.

The class is all at 7 yards, no holster draw. All strings begin at low ready or close retention.

Happy to answer any other questions.

Thanks for the info Catch-10-22, now I need some targets to practice. I'm going to sign up for the December event. I found some printable ones online, but not sure if they are sized correctly for the COF. Any help with those?

Catch-10-22, thanks but the link to the targets did not work. I found some by searching, but I don't know if they are scaled correctly for the distance. I've attached what I have and I printed them out on 8.5x11, but again not sure if the scale is right for the distance.
