Yes. I used to fish there when it was restricted to military personnel only. Good spot for blues, rockfish and spot.

Caught a couple of stingrays and eels as well.

Thanks Scar! May be taking the kids there soon. What kind of bait did you use?

I used a surf rod.. Used squid, bloodworms , cut up bait fish.

    Crabs are plentiful as well.

You can also drive your vehicle right on the point itself.. Its one of my favorite( unknown, til now) fishing spots.

Possum point is near the VLF ( very low frequency ) transmitter towers in Annapolis. Used to be a restricted area, base housing facility.

I had never heard the name Possum Point. Just looked it up on the chart, I've gone right by it a number of times by boat. I work right around the corner on the next creek.

It's still restricted. :) Want to meet out there for some fishing?

I wish I had the time.... Being able to fish or shoot is a luxury for me nowadays. Work always seems to get in the way. If i find the time.. I would love to go fishing over there. Thanks for the invite.

The best time to go fishing there is late summer to early fall. Just make sure that if you wedge your rod on the rockpile, to double check them.... Ive lost a couple of rods there from bluefish biting and pulling them into the water.

I have not been there in over 6 years. But there was a time that it was a regular weekend venue for me and my buddies. Getting pass base security was a pain in the behind. ( my BIL was stationed at Annapolis and lived in the housing units by possum point). But that keeps it sort of like private. I hate to fish when someone sets up shop five feet away and have to detangle lines on a regular basis.

    Things to remember
    Beach umbrella( no shade), chair
Small rod/ reel for the kids( let them catch baitfish)
There are no bathroon facilities( be one with nature)
First aid kit( rocks are sharp)
Right side is best for blue fish, rockfish, etc
Left side( cove) is best for kids.. Spot , crabs, croakers
