you probably sneak by at $1800.00 maybe.

Nahhh. Just wait for sales etc. Rem action $300-ish. Remage barrel $400. KRG Bravo $349 (that's new, used would cost less). So that's about $1K.

Dont forget scope mounts, scope, trigger upgrade, bottom metal, yes criterion barrels are about $400.00 . the nut ,recoil lug, tools are all extra.if a smith puts it together for you there is a little more money.Adds up quicker than you think.

Oh, I'm aware of the scope mounts and all that stuff. I figure $60 for nut/lug. Bottom metal, not an issue if I go with a chassis. IF....big IF....I go this route, hopefully I can find someone local with a couple of the tools I could borrow/rent. I already have the vise and torque wrench. Anyway, I figure this could be a fun project. It's not like we don't have time right now....

Just for reference, here is the cost breakdown for this year's build.

    KHroQOL.jpg

I considered a Remage barrel, but went instead with a Bartlein and high-end BR gunsmith chambering. Lot's of little costs that add up as a project progresses.

    Project Cost:

    $350 used M700SA action & trigger guard
$365 Bartlein LV SS match-grade barrel
$225 BR quality chamber and crown
    $200 Jewell “Competition” BR trigger
    $62 used 40X walnut stock ($48 + $14 shipping)
    $20 benchrest follower (1/2” x 2 ½” aluminum)
    $30 miscellaneous material/fasteners etc.
    $1252 Rifle Sub-Total

    $35 30MOA scope base
    $35 34mm rings
$1620 scope: Delta Stryker 5-50x 56mm (includes shipping)
    $1690 Scope Sub-Total

    $25 6” bipod (with modification)
$50 “wide-stance” fabricated bipod (cost of purchased components)
    $20 Picatinny rail piece
$20 aluminum bar front benchrest adapter (cost of purchased materials)
    $115 Bipods & Front Slider Sub-Total

    $30 polyurethane and mineral spirits
$25 sanding pads for oscillating sander
    $55 Stock Refinishing Sub-Total (estimate)

$1492 Complete rifle with bipods, scope rings and bases (LESS scope)

$3112 Complete rifle and system with bipods and Delta Stryker scope

I have not included the cost of the failed stain and epoxy components. I also purchased several tools and some tooling for this build, but have not included their cost as they will be used in future projects.

That's purty. I'm trying to see if I can keep the rifle costs as close to $1k as possible...
