At PSA. Phosphate is the way to go!
I know they were doing the same thing with Toolcraft, but they usually put that somewhere in the advert, IIRC.Very very good deal. If I am not mistaken these also have Sprinco ejector /extractor springs. I bought one to replace an out of spec BCM bolt that was creating accuracy issues and it’s been stellar.
I believe these are rebranded Microbest carriers just as SOLGW is.
Looks like they did ...I know they were doing the same thing with Toolcraft, but they usually put that somewhere in the advert, IIRC.
Why phosphate over nickel boron or nitrided? At PSA. Phosphate is the way to go!
NiB is an absolutely terrible BCG finish and Nitride often leads to gas system inefficiency and often leads to a bolt more likely to break at the lugs or cam pin.Why phosphate over nickel boron or nitrided?
Good morning Kind Sir. Hope you and yours are well. Not trying to hijack the OP, but your comment got me thinking. I grabbed a toolcraft NiB from PSA on a sale for my Jailed SBR. Haven’t been able to shoot it yet obviously, but I assume it’s good to go for now at least. Found a couple “Gunlab” BCGs I picked up during the great shortage in the recent past. Got them from MWG I believe. They look decent to me at a glance, but pickings were slim back then. Are they decent or trashy in your professional opinion. They’re spares so not hugely concerned, more concerned I can’t find too much info on them aside from being out of stock for a while now on MGW.NiB is an absolutely terrible BCG finish and Nitride often leads to gas system inefficiency and often leads to a bolt more likely to break at the lugs or cam pin.
If those are phosphate finished, make sure the bolt receiver and gas key are chrome lined. That's a place to start. It appears the gas key it mounted with type 8 screws, which is proper. Check for proper torquing of same by applying 30 in/lbs left pressure(loosening). If they don't come loose, they are more than likely properly torqued on.Good morning Kind Sir. Appreciate your input, and apologies to the OP for the sidetrack
Nice. Back in 2021 I seem to remember a shortage of BCGs and like a lot of other folks I grabbed a couple when they popped up as spares. MGW had been good to me before but never did find anything on Gunlabs directly. Figured they might be rebranded. Thx for the info and I’ll check the torque on them this evening. For some reason I thought Toolcraft NiB were gtg, I suppose I was mistaken. I’d imagine it’s fine for range duty.Nitride finish, so no chrome lining required.

Thanks for the reply my man.We are well. Thank you for asking. I hope you have been well.
"That BCG is geared for a plinker in my opinion.
The screws used for the carrier key are not of the proper type for this application (the heads are a giveaway). The staking it quite good though.
I ones from this brand that I have inspected lacked sealant between the carrier key and carrier and tended to be in the middle of the road in regards to gas efficiency. If you have a gun that's overgassed, thas overcomes the efficiency issue.
The bolts are 9310 but they list them improperly on the website. 9310 Bolt when nitrided can be less durable. DLC, Chrome, or NP3 cause less issues with life.
Oops! Looked like the right screws from my cellie. MBWe are well. Thank you for asking. I hope you have been well.

Thanks to you and @clandestine for the info on the screws in the carrier key. I did not realize manufacturers used different kinds of screws.Oops! Looked like the right screws from my cellie. MB
You are welcome. Thanks to you and @clandestine for the info on the screws in the carrier key. I did not realize manufacturers used different kinds of screws.
Too add on to this, usually, manufacturers will say "Grade 8 gas key screws" if they are, but not always. You are welcome.
It's quite common for manufacturers to cut corners in that area. There are lots of screws the look right but are not. Unless you live and breathe this stuff, it's just about impossible to not be deceived by companies sales pitches.
