Has anyone ever had issues with 7.5 French surplus ammo? I have a post war mas 36 and it’s generally run a smooth bolt through prvi commercial and other surplus ammo, but this current crop I have to fight the bolt after every shot. It places well but I’m surprised I have to fight it.

All the French issued 7.5 I've shot is corrosive so treat it as such. But never had issues with feeding or extracting.

When I owned French rifles, I reloaded them using .308 modified cases, 4895 and 150gn FMJBT bullets as there was no French surplus available. They worked fine in 36's and 49's as long as you lightened the firing pin in the 49's.

I've only seen surplus 7.5 twice in 16 years collecting and they were at gunshows. Both owners were off their rocker wanting the same or more than prvi.

A picture of the headstamp would help as to identify when/where this 7.5 French was manufactured- that might be the source of your problem.

Appreciate it guys, here is a pic of the round itself. I’ll go take pics of the head stamp later.

Bought 1000 res surplus along with a scoped 49/56 dozen yrs back. May have shot 10) rds and then forgot about but there was no problem firing. As said, its corrosive but run some water an ammonia theu the barrel and action and oil.

I’m generally good at cleaning after shooting any kind of corrosive ammo , I’ll have to remember the ammonia solution.
