My wife is in the military and we move a ton, so I was thinking of buying a mini-14 to minimize hassle that comes with moving.

I like the “tactical” version due to the shorter barrel, but was wondering if that version is considered too scary anywhere as it does have what looks like the completely ineffective birdcage flash suppressor (I’d just as soon put a thread protector on the end of the muzzle).

I guess I could always have a barrel reamed down to 16.1”, but that’s a bit more hassle than buy once, cry once.

    Thanks guys.

I don't have experience with them but I hear good things about the Fightlite SCR. They seem to be sold out though.

I have an H&K 630 that is a tack driver. Looks pretty, though. Mags are ridiculously expensive. It will take SL6 mags. Not necessarily practical, but could fit the bill.
