Having grown up in the drug world, meth is different. Not to mention felony possession of illegal full auto sears along with his "lawful" firearms. The world is not black and white. Meth is not pot. It isn't coke.

All schedule A drugs are not the same.
Ill.agree that this guy is a sleazebag (who shouldn't have been on the street based on what we are told about his prior criminal behavior).

Been around enough tweakers that I get what you mean. I'd also add dust to the list of stuff that has no redeeming value based on observations of people on it and conversations with some once.they were down.

The constitutional issue - Bruen- would a "drug" user of any substance be banned FOR LIFE for smoking or using opium, morphine, etc from 1789-1968.

You'll get no arguments here. I'm all for redemption. I'd be the world's biggest hypocrite, were I not to be. The proof, however, is in the pudding.

Opium, cocaine, and morphine have been used in the US by our military since at least the American Civil War.

Maybe giving full gun rights back after the incarceration ends will provide a reason to seriously reconsider early release policies.

    Mmmmmm, no.

Considering most cons only do a segment of their time, no.

Now, if they can keep their noses clean to the end of their parole or probation, maybe. In many cases, I don't trust POs to be 100% truthful.

I think that's what he meant by "reconsider early release", at least that's the way I read it. It would probably make felons stay in longer.
Then my question is, who does the "reconsidering"?

As I said, once you reach the end of your parole with a spotless(not talking about speeding tickets here) record, I'd be mostly fine with that. The original offense would play a role in this though.

Do the crime, then do your time.

After that you are fine, not safe enough to be on the streets, keep them locked up.

I don't believe that because of your situation you should forgo your right to self defense.

Pass a piss test over a period of time and give him back his firearms.

Just stay in West Virginia please.

You really think Maryland is any better...??

Hover over the state with your mouse cursor to see the number of users per state....

Maryland is only a few thousand meth users higher, but it's a much smaller state with a much higher population density, so you are much more likely to encounter a meth head in Maryland than West Virginia.

Yup, I wouldn’t argue with this data, just don't want them contesting 2A convictions anywhere near me.
