    Resolution? Me?

YOU are gonna need help…from a mortician??
I'm going to be more of an a-hole this year. Last yr I held my tongue while the world lost its damn mind. I'm calling out stupidity and psychosis a lot more this year.
MDS is here for you. A target rich environment.

I like this thread and if I use it as a confession time - I've probably shot less than 50 rounds in the past two and a half years : /

Got some kids who've never shot a gun even though I bought a bunch of 22 rifles for them years ago, got several rifles I've never fired, not provident with some of my handguns etc

If we had property that wasn't surrounded on all sides by roads, I'd dump a couple mags off the back porch with the kids each night, but no access to shooting that doesn't wind up taking several hours once prep travel and unpacking are factored in is an issue

    That’s a huge a bummer. And with shooting being a perishable skill-set, might I make a recommendation?

I recently purchased a real deal air rifle. Not a Wally World special, which there is nothing wrong with either. But one that I can get real feel, and real ACCURACY, out of while training. I purchased a rifle personally but there are many terrific pistols as well. The rifle I bought is a Weirhauch HW50S and there is a thread on it in the air rifle sub section. I’m telling you, it’s like shooting my CZ-452 in regards to accuracy on my 25y back range. I live in SUBURBIA here in South Carolina so touching off live rounds is a thing of my MD past. I cannot say enough how good of a trainer it has been.

All that to say, you’ll never replace live fire. I hope for you that you can find some time to brush up. Its a life critical skill set to keep sharp.

Good advice. I shoot anywhere from 50 to 100 pellets a week practicing in my basement, in the winter, and in the front yard in the summer. It does help to keep you proficient.

I also have a CO2 BB gun that is similar to one of my carry pistols. I practice with that drawing, shooting and mag changes into a cardboard box full of rags. This too keeps you proficient in gun handling.

John knows of which he speaks as well!!

New year figured some new mags. All of my G19 mags have been flawless over the years. But I want a little extra on the hip these days…just so many whackadoos anymore. Went ahead and snatched two factory 15 rounders and two Taran Tactical plus fives. I like the sound of 40 rounds on the hip and 15 in hand.

Good recommendations both, I often let perfect stand in the way of done.

For the kids I actually have a couple of BB guns and enough area to shoot them so there's no reason I couldn't have them out there punching paper already.

Getting a CO2 g19 or 1911 seems like a really good idea too if for nothing else then being able to pull it out and practice sight aiming and trigger pulls repeatedly.

I'm definitely seeing others posting good reviews of proper air rifles, I'll have to to consider that one

Thanks guys for some motivation. Looks like my list is shaping up to 1. Learn Irish 2. Shoot some with the kids weekly 3. Work out and 4. Walk a mile with the wife on days I work from home

Sounds like a good plan. You can look at air pistols at www.pyramidair.com.

    Happy New Year.

That’s an excellent plan I believe! Exercise yourself, your brain, and your muscle memory!!

Ive already progressed to level two on Duolingo for Irish, setting out to walk with my wife and to the kids right now, and before the sun goes down tonight we'll have some paper targets with holes in them : )

Do yourself a favor and get that red dot up on a riser. Then it will really rock.

    Ok, I’ll bite.

Why? Genuinely asked, not in the regular MDS fashion. Because I genuinely do not know. I love the nose glued to the receiver and just looking over my irons. How I have it now is essentially an eye extension. I DO have a riser, just didn’t see the point to be honest.

    I am prepared for education.

Suppose I should have been more specific for y’all.

The resolution I’m after isn’t some mushy, ”be better”. But rather something I can track month to month. In any event, range tomorrow.
