    Hello all,

I have a 1970 Remington Wingmaster I inherited from my father passing. It has the first letter of a T = 1970 and a last letter of V = 2&3/4" 12 gauge shells. It has only about 2-3 seasons of pheasant hunting on it from 1970-1973. I am wondering what something like this would be worth or even if hunters would be interested in something of this age? I am not a hunter and possibly looking to sell and purchase another rifle or handgun. Even willing to trade if I like the gun in trade. Does this seem realistic or is an old shot gun just a wall hanger?

Not a wall hanger at all

2 3/4 guns are a little less desirable

What length barrel and choke? Blued I assume?

    Right price I'd be interested

It is blued. 28" barrel with no choke. That is the thing I have no Idea what it is really worth. I have friends that 1 said depend 475 to 525 and another that said depending on the day and time 450 to 550.

You mean it doesn't have choke tubes , right? Look on the barrel where it enters the receiver and there will be a stamp saying Full or Mod. I'm betting it is modified since it has a 28 inch barrel.

On a 12g, a dime will give an idea of mod vs full.
Hold a dime between your thumb and index finger, then gently lit a dime in the barrel, if it doesn’t fit, it’s a full. If it does fit, its mod or wider.

Remington usually used the words of Full , Modified , but there is also industry standard system of choke markings of 1. 2 . or 3 Stars .

A 28 inch Wingmaster fixed choke was offered in both Full or Modified .

There is a significant group of shotgunners who consider vintage 870 Wingmaster superior to later 870's

Met two fine gentlemen at the Timonium show this weekend at the MSI booth. One was Biggfoot44. I had a good time talking to both of them. I am not a shotgun guy at all and they both explained my father's gun to me inside and out. Also found that it is a "FULL" choke gun and they honed me right in on it. I am always glad to meet the people behind the Avatars and so far have been very nice informative gents.
