Does it say R.Famage on the receiver? If so its a Columbian, they redid them in 1952 to a 30.06 cal

    This one was mine.

Just as I indicated: FN built for Columbia then rebored to .30/06. Couldn't remember the R. Famage part.

    Nope.

Oldcarjunkie that is an interesting bench you have the rifle on.
If you think that's interesting, you should see his toilet.:innocent0

Now that i think about it i think it was something like it was re chambered but not re barreled.. something like that.

Well if they were chambered for 7x57, then the chamber and bore would have to have some work done. Not sure about breach face. The OAL of the .30-06 is 7mm longer than the 7x57. (assuming mil spec ammo)

Were the .285" barrels bored out to .30"and rifled or did they replace the barrel?

If you notice OCJ's pics, the receiver ring has been cut in a half moon at the top dead center for facilitating the use of stripper clip loading for the longer .30/06 cartridge. The guns (AFAIK) were rebored/rechambered to the .30/06 specs or a remote posibility that a new barrel was used, though the former is almost certainly correct. The bolt face didn't need to be touched as the case head diameter on both calibers are the same.
