Took the resnipered 1944 Izhevsk out today and shot this target at 50 yards, using the time honored box inverted and placed over a stump, may still wrap the barrel or shim it, but not a bad group for shooting standing up. Was using 1949 headstamped milsurp ammo. I really like the Ukrainian repro PU scopes, excellent clarity and really rugged.

OK, here it is I bought the rifle 2 years ago at the Winchester VA show for $109 100% electropencil, still in the CAI box and caked with cosmo. A while back I purchased a 1939 Tula CAI repro and it always bothered me that 1939 rifles were never used as PU snipers. So I had a friend of mine drill out the old plugs from the 1944, and I mounted the base, mount and scope onto the ex-sniper. My goal was to make something that looked authentic that I could take into the woods and play with. For a shooter I prefer a modern manufacture scope, they have clearer optics, are gas filled, and will last for decades into the future. Of interest to collectors will be the crossed out scope number. If your barrel scope number is in this font it is the original scope issued to the rifle, if the numbers are in a newer font the scope is a replacement.
