Anyone in here have a 1911 with the “Savage Slide?”

Finishing up the last round of peer review for an article coming out in American Rifleman. Just working on pictures, final edits and it’s done.

Needs to be a brushed blued finish.

Without giving too much away before it comes out. Savage never made any slides and collectors may need to come up with a new name for them. “Hybrid” might be appropriate.

    PM me if you do.

I've seen some speculation on the actual origin that seems to makes sense.
Hopefully you can post your article here, once it's published.

AR already green lit the article on their internet publication so it’ll be free and a link. My editor loves it. I’ll post the link here.

It’s in the last phase of peer review with the 1911 experts and advanced collectors. So far the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and well received.

When you’re kinda challenging Clawson you really have to be careful. I’m trying to be very careful. No disrespect to the man at all. I’m a fan of his work.

I think most folks are open-minded that as new information comes out, some of the old "golden" references need to be updated.
I wish I had the foresight to buy the Clawson books (and Sheldon's Super 38 book) back in the day :)
Look forward to seeing the article.
