Picking up a dpms g2 16" barrel in a week or so, what scope you guys using? Trying to stay under $600 or so and would like at least 10x magnification.

Nikon M308 has mixed reviews, 4-16 vortex Pst outside my price range, a nice 2.5-10 would be nice woth illuminated rectile.

    Ideas?

That primary arms scope looks pretty decent, these things pretty tough? I don't want to go fixed power.

I have a buncha vortex scopes now, but the 4-16 HST is just OK IMO, not trying to purchase another one of those. I have a vortex 2.5-10x44 that I was going to mount on the 300blk. 6-24 PST is what to much scope for this rifle and I have one on a 20" bolt gun now.

What about a weaver 3-15? Besides being heavy, the glass is pretty darn clear on my 4-20 weaver, I would say as good if not better than the vortex 6-24 PST

I went with a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40mm CDS for my 18" bbl AR10. So far I like it. I was debating between Nikon M308, Vortex and the Leupold. I haven't had it back to the range yet since I got my CDS dial for it that is calibrated to my rounds to verify how close it is.

With a 16" barrel you're probably not going to achieve a full powder burn which will start to affect accuracy at around 250 yards.

I would go with a 1-4x or 1-6x... I have a Vortex PST 1-4x on my 16" SIG 716 and it is matched nicely to the guns capabilities.

10x... 4.5-14x.. etc are all over kill for a carbine.

I have a PST1-4 also, but wouldn't want to deer hunt with it. I would like to be able to go to 10x if I can.
