Well, no secret, I have wanted a Remington Mosin for a while now. With kids, mortgage, daycare, etc., been hard to find/buy a nice one. Came across a sporterized on on GB and wondered if I could somehow do something with it. Decided on a Mosin/Rem carbine project. Got a M44 stock, Rem bolt handle, Rem cocking knob, and 2 stage Rem M39 Finn trigger. What the heck?

very nice, congrats on getting it finished

Thanks! Not finished yet, but on it's way. Need to file sme on the inside of the stock for the hex receiver, but hope to get it done this week. Bore and crown look good from what I can see. can't wait to test fire it.

Curse the original Bubba that destroyed a 1918 dated Remington :sad20:
With that said, I wish you the best in this salvage operation

Better late than never. M44 stock, aluminum pillars for action screws, 2 stage Finn M39 Remington trigger, Finnish Remington HV magazine.

Did you hand sculpt the radius for the rear sight fit?

    What original hand guard?

    It came out well.

And that Finn trigger will definitely help things out.

It was a standard M44 handguard I shortened and curved to fit using Bubba's favorite tool. The dremmel.

    UPDATE

Well, took the Remington out today. So my sub $200 bubba job turned out to be a great shooter. For it's first time out with me, I decided to use good, non corrosive ammo. 150gr SP PPU brass case. I don't condone what bubba did, but he put a really good front sight on the rifle which I touched up with a dab of my daughter's neon orange fingernail polish. The action is as smooth a a lyin' politician's alibi, the shortened barre; feels good, looks decent in a M44 stock, and the blue job whomever did looks good. The thing shot like a laser, doing as good, if not better than my M39, in part due to the smaller front sight. I genrally don't care for the M91 sights, and at least bubba did me one small favor. I think I'm in love, .............. again.
