Ok, so a question as I continue to ponder the Obrez. If I purchase a separate barrel and receiver, and a separate stock to make the Obrez, do I still have to get the $200 tax stamp???

The only way to make one which does not require a tax stamp is to have a completely virgin receiver that was never either recorded as a rifle or transferred as a rifle. The only way you will find one of those is to make the reciever yourself.

There is another way... :) You could "de-mill" an existing receiver and then weld them back together. De-mill submit to ATF for approval of the de-mill and re-weld.

I am sure that this would please the Mosin fudd community.
