I need to do an FFL xfr in from TN, AND have a fired shell casing done for a S&W M&P15-22p (pistol).

Even though it's a S&W, the TN dealer says that there is no shell. I thought that S&W always included a shell casing.

Do rimfire .22lr handguns still require a fired shell casing ? Reading COMAR, it looks like it, but I had also heard rumors that rimfires were removed from the requirement.

I'll call The Gun Shop this AM.

When you find out could you post your answer ? I was looking at that model for possible future purchase down the road .

Good luck finding an M&P15-22p. They go quickly and expensively on GunBroker.

Rimfire .22lr does require a fired shell casing. COMAR 29.03.01.31 Unfortunately, S&W DOESN'T supply one with every handgun, just every handgun shipped to MD dealers (and some in surrounding states) I bought another S&W revolver from a dealer in PA off of GunBroker and it did come with a casing. So, if you're bidding on GunBroker, always ask ahead of time so you'll know whether you need to ship to an FFL who can provide the service.

The good news is that The Gun Shop in Essex can provide that service for a fee along with the FFL xfr ... AND they offer a MDS discount. Just be sure to mention the MDS discount BEFORE the transaction is rung up ... right Bob ?

OBTW ... The Gun Shop crew is great to work with. If I didn't live so far away I'd hang out there more often.

KUDOS !!!
