Any intel on this story? Very scary!

    theconservativetreehouse.com/2014/01/16/driving-through-maryland-how-the-lawful-florida-gun-owner-was-targeted-hint-maryland-coordination-and-analysis-center/

Maryland State has a network of technical security databases which access the databases of all other states who comply and coordinate with them. For states who do not willfully comply, or those who are not set up to align technically, Maryland mines data from various LEO systems.

Maryland has a rather innocuous sounding name for the intelligence hub which contains this data, it’s called Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center.

So if the article is true, MD is data-mining FL Dept of Ag.

Yup, that is the Maryland office for the JTTF - http://www.fbi.gov/baltimore/contact-us/maryland-jttf-flyer.

So all this effort that Florida makes to keep CWP holders info private, even putting it under the dept of Agriculture instead of a law enforcement agency is all for nothing?

The article clearly posted a picture of the transit administration when the article mentions the transportation authority.

If the writer is not familiar with MD I can see the confusion, hell those familiar with MD couldn't tell which is which. They probably did on purpose so that complaints from both average out.

They appear to be related. Answers the question about how anyone in LE would know that the driver may have a weapon in the first place..... :sad20:

FIFY. I can't believe the sheer audacity of this state to treat a law-abiding visitor to this state like a criminal and further, to ASSUME that a firearm is being transported illegally.

Time to shitcan all of those 'Maryland Welcomes You' signs.

I'm curious why this cop went so far out of his way on this one. Do they get some kind of bonus for "taking a gun off the street"? I also see this as the new profiling controversy with anti-gun state cops pulling over Southern state vehicles looking for any minor violations to make a quick bust.

Consider this: who does the officer's chief report to? Hint: the same guy appointed him and Marcus Brown to their jobs.

    That should clarify things.

Mr. Filippidis license plate was picked up at the Fort McHenry Tunnel on I-95
The article leads you to believe the only reason the automated license reader spotted him was because of his Florida CCW permit. Really?!?

    1) if True FOPA would certainly apply and I hope the driver has deep enough pockets to sue this lousy state.

    2) smells to me that something else was the reason. Maybe he had a registration issue from FL and if MD reciprocated data with they would know about him this way.

I wonder if MD is hoping to catch non-MD permit holders violating FOPA by pulling them over and hoping to catch them with a firearm on their person?

I am one of those (from various states) and I just hope to get pulled over by a Maryland LEO for this reason...I could use some extra money from a lawsuit.
