Wow - and I thought I was pushing it with a 14.5" middy. Isn't that like a 0.5" for dwell time??
I believe you are thinking of rifle length gas, which is at 12”. Last I checked, a mid length gas port is at 9”, or about 3.5” from the muzzle. A 10.5” barrel with carbine length gas has the same. 12.5” mid length with a properly sized port is a great suppressor host for several reasons, but is probably a pretty bad idea unsuppressed unless you have that gas port tuned specifically to the ammo you are using. Even then without a suppressor it would likely be temperature sensitive enough to be annoying, swinging from undergassed to overgassed if set up improperly . Moreso than a 10.5” due to the overall lower pressure and necessarily larger gas port.

Or at least that is my understanding of the situation, clandestine is probably shaking his head in disappointment at yet another dumb build by me haha. All I know is left handed shooter + 12.5” midlength = no gas bukkake and velocities within about 100fps of a typical 14.5” barrel.

The 12.5” triarc midlength is kind of their flagship barrel. You can find a lot of reviews on the internet. Dwell time isn’t much different than carbine 10.5”. The suppressor I bought for it (turbo k in direct thread setup) didn’t show up until recently, so I will have to see how it runs with that. It did fine with a Griffin Optimus before now though, so I don’t anticipate issues. Shot mostly wolf gold and some magtech mk262 clone.

If anything I anticipate the slightly higher back pressure turbo k will let me run really anemic loads through it, not that I’ve had a malfunction yet.
    Copy

Me neither. I’m trying to get all you guys to buy them all so they’ll be sold out by the time I’ve had a few glasses of wine.
Nice try, but I’m keeping my hobby money safe in case the Stribog SP9A3 shows in stock in the next few weeks.

Good move. That’s the roller delayed model?
Yeah, though calling the delay mechanism a roller is sort of stretching the term. I’m kind of thinking about buying one despite concerns that it ain’t ready for prime time. Pretty sure I’d be happier with a CMMG Banshee, but the Stribog is super compact and can be turned into a side folder. MP5 clone will be heavier with fewer ambi friendly features, and the Angstadt roller delayed model (MDP) is $$$$$$.

If I’m able to get in on the initial run of Stribog A3s and am not happy with it, I can always turn around and sell it while they are still scarce. Assuming it’s not a malfunction machine, in which case I would not sell it.
