I have an old 20ga Western Field (lower grade Moss 500 clone) in excellent condition. Only bummer is that the slide fails to unlock after firing, so I have to manually press the slide unlock botton between shots. What would cause the slide to not unlock? I disassembled it and everything looks normal.

Only weird thing is that one of the cartridge interrupters says “12 ga” on it and this is a 20 ga gun. I wouldn’t think this had anything to do with it though.

The trigger group looks normal, no broken springs or anything, and the slide unlock lever moves freely when manually manipulated.

It should be a private label Mossberg 500 and should take the same parts.

I recently sold a Westernfield 550...it was a Mossberg 500 in all ways outside of the magazine tube was slightly different but interchangeable with later Mossberg tubes...and the trigger group was all plastic and Mossberg eventually added some steel reinforcement where the part rotates into and snaps into the receiver.

Replacement parts should be easy to source.
