Guns and Ammo warehouse in NoVA sells the uppers(or sold them at one point). Interesting idea, but the price tag was a little hefty for me.

I have a friend who has one. He's accurate out to 60 yards on targets. He paid about $1500 and bought the version that didn't require a lower. He'll be using it this season for deer hunting. He puts down about 25+ deer a year. It makes noise, but no more than any other crossbow. I bought a good tenpoint crossbow, so my brother bought a better one, and he then decided to buy this one. He wins.

if you were going hunting then you could just pop a lower from an existing ar15. my question is does that make it a fire arm?

It can't be a firearm if it doesn't meet the criteria outlined in the 68 gun control act. No cartridge projectile, no firearm. This is why muzzloaders are not subject to a form 4473.
