From the local rumor mill; accidental discharge and other serious issues with the FN NFS40 LS, county is rumored to be switching to Glock 17M's

    Is this just BS?

Ran into some fugitive task force guys the other week and they said they're definitely getting away from the FNs, and **thought they'd probably** get glocks

They are going to be replacing the FNs but I have not heard any confirmation of what they will be going to. Friend of mine said he heard rumor they were possibly leaning toward Glock 17's.

Don't know the replacement gun but I have heard they're getting away from FN soon.

Going to the latest model Glock would make sense logistically. (So they'll probably do something completely different.)

Read about the accidental discharge in the county last year, 1st time I have heard anything about "other serious issues."

What are the "other serious issues?"

I believe there has been more than one unintentional discharge.

There has also been a slide that jumped off a frame.

I wonder what will happen with the FN's?

They have been deemed "unsafe" so I'm sure they are going to be destroyed. I doubt very seriously they agreed to a contract where these get sold. If they are going to get sold they will likely go over sea's. If a batch show up with Warren-Sevigny sights they would be the current guns. I doubt they see the market though.

    I heard the selection was for a Gen5 G17.

Friend who is BCP said they had a some sort loose trigger pin issue and that a number of guns in his precinct were repaired and commented that they were told they were switching to G17’s soon.

The roll pins on the triggers have been walking out. Numerous have been repaired.

The roll pin problem will increasingly occur during the winter months (cold temps and contraction). If anyone has this issue, the whole trigger assembly has to be replaced, not just the roll pin, it's the polymer expanding due to wear. OR you can just use the weapon as a paper weight, just don't slam it on the table! :0
