WJ Dent's in Tall Timbers will even ship one to you, but they aren't cheap. They're a lot of work to prepare though... Did it once, now I just get it from my sister.

Nicks has instructions to cook their stuffed hams 2 different ways, boiling which is traditional and in the oven. We have done them both ways and in my opinion cooking in the oven the spices are much spicier than boiling. :party29:

Maybe Mdeng and his wife will offer a class in how to make a MD Stuffed Ham this year. I know at least two people who would be interested!

One of the few treasures from So. Md that I truly miss. Stuffed Ham from Chaptico Market. Wifes Dad was born and raised in Great Mills was related to the Evans from St. Georges Island. That man could make a stuffed ham. Only wish I had paid more attention to him making it than I did to eating it. I really miss that guy. R.I.P. His was the first I ever tasted, never heard of it before moving to So MD. Chaptico Markets tastes close to what he made.

Just put ours in the pot to boil.
    Never did it before...I’m a NY-er.
My wife is from an old SoMD family, but
had alwaysxwatched as others did the work.
    Spent hours prepping the stuffing.
Got the corned ham at Nick’s of Calvert,
    who deboned and skinned it.
Baked the skin to a mahogany brown -
    fabulous !!!!
We realized our biggest pot was just a
    tad too small...lesson learned.
Used a recipe to get in the ball park, and
adjusted fire as we went...lesson learned.
Thanks to you all whose PMs steered us right
based upon your far more vast experience...
    lessons learned.
We had a blast working together...lesson
    learned.
Eager to see how it comes out...probably
just after the dawn of 2019!
    Will advise.
    Happy New Year!!!

I'd say the reward was well worth the ride . Hope you took a sandwich for when you got back home the beer would likely be foam the time you got home

Cracked it out of the cheese cloth for supper tonight. Came out really well!
Folks, it was a lot of work, and messy as all
get out. But, it sure was fun and well worth
    it.
Next time, we will get one a bit smaller than
the 23 pounder we used this year. I guess a
19 pounder would work great...along with
three heads of cabbage, six pounds
of chopped kale, 4 white onions, etc.
    Sandwiches tomorrow!

    ...A treasure!!!!
Really just a great dish...and, because we serve it cold, it coukd not be easier.
Southern Maryland Stuffed Ham...it is not just for holidays, anymore!!!! (Not at out house, anyway....)

Indeed i enjoy it cold also . I'd like to try and make some bean soup next time with the bone and some of the meat

That was my intent...but, my plans went
awry. I boiled the bones to flavor the water I
wad going yo use to blanch the greens. Then
I was going to use the bones to make soup...never got that far. I gnawed them
    until they looked polished.

Oh, and then I roasted tge skin the butcher
at Nick’s removed from the ham...got it mahogsny brown and crackly. WOW!!!!!
