That pretty much says it all. Looking to put a scout scope on a Marlin .44. I've never used a scout scope before. What should I look for? What should I avoid?
This is the best scout scope for the money that I have found for my Rossi 92 .44 Mag. I have loaded it up to max with 300 grain bullets and plenty of H110 and it never blinked. I have tried others but this has excellent eye relief for the lever action rifle.
I have a question for you. Isn't your Marlin drilled and tapped on the receiver? If so, why do you want a scout set up?
I have a Leupold FX-II on a Garand using an Ultimak scout mount. The scope holds up very well to the battering of 168 grain 30-06 rounds, better than my shoulder does.
I only use a LER scope because I have to. If I was shooting a Marlin, I would have it drilled and tapped for a standard eye relief scope. LER scopes do work but a standard scope gives you a better picture and is faster to put into use unless the LER is a 1 to 1 scope.
