High speed video of pistols fired underwater

Sorry if it's a repost...

I always wondered why barrels don't explode when fired under water. The hydraulic force of water is very damaging, and water cannot be compressed much. In an engine, if antifreeze gets into your cylider, you either lift the head or break the piston.

The water can be pushed out of the barrel, whereas in an engine, there is nowhere for the water to go

I thought his highlighting the amount of energy "lost" (i.e. not applied to the bullet) when the roud was fired by the revolver vs. the pistol was very telling

I expected some gas/energy loss from the revolver, but it was more than I expected. I'd love to know how much...

I didn't think any gas escaped the chamber from the pistol ejection port...that really surprised me.
