Obviously we would not want to give riled up people another handgun!

I wouldn't be upset if they let me exercise my constitutional rights without delay. What happens if they decide it should be a 30 day wait instead of a 7 day wait?

Or what if some state denies it's citizens the ability to purchase ammo from an out of state vendor and demands any purchase must go through a licensed dealer?

Oh wait, California beat me to it. When does the madness stop?

As I stop preaching to the choir.

Didn't CA get their cooling off period overturned for subsequent purchases?

MD is not a "cooling off" period in the law.

google is your friend, I am not.
I think cali lost at the district court but won on appeal, because guns.

MD is not a "cooling off" period in the law.

When the standard is "reasonable basis" the state can make up any reason it wants, and not be wrong. The statute does not say why there is a 7-day wait, and the reasons have shifted over time.

Uhm, yeah ... if I were in a "riled up" state in need of a 7-day cool-down period, there's not a damn thing separating me from my previously-purchased firearms (currently located at the bottom of the Chesapeake ... somewhere.)

The Legislative Intent was very much Cooling Off Period .

Back in 1966 , all the discussion and debate was about Cooling Off. The bill was known as the "Cooling Off Bill " . The paperwork going through the mail was a minor footnote .

But yes in current times , the HQL more than supplants that with an initial 30day Cooling Off , not even counting the time and effort to get training and fingerprints before starting the HQL clock .
