Any recommendations for Carnivals that have lots of asphalt?
Wife in a wheelchair and it is hard for her to get around, and she wants to get out to one this year.
    Thanks

Manchester has part of their area paved, although last time I was there the paved part was mostly games and food. Reese also has some of their area paved.

Many of the Catholic church/school carnivals are in their parking lots. So maybe this will help.

    Good luck!

My wife is in a wheel chair also and it is frustrating not being able to go where she would like to. As another poster said, the Catholic schools usually have them in the parking lots. Additionally, the larger venues are laying down green mats and making ramps over power cords to make it more accessible for people with disabilities.

Take her to Hershey Park in Hershey Park...

They are set up to deal with Wheelchairs & H / C people...

And it's a beautiful large facility...

The one they put up every year at the PG County Wal-Mart on 295 is all paved. Also when D.C. has their's it is in the parking lot of the soccer stadium and 100% wheelchair accessible. I'll admit I personally wouldn't go to either of these but both would be easy for your wife to maneuver around. Does Howard County Fair grounds ever have one? That actually should be fairly easy to maneuver around even though it isn't all paved.

There is the Howard County Fair. Beginning of August. Last year was unbearably hot.

I believe The Glen Burnie Carnival still has a Handicapped Day I think was Tuesday morning (carnival is last weekend in July to First Weekend in August) Mostly for kids, but they have extra help available for getting on and off the rides that are open. (not all are). The carnival grounds are level, but mostly grass.

Take the ride up to knoebels. Its like a permanent carnival and much of it is paved. There are some rock areas but I've pushed a stroller all over the park without any real issue.

We took the MIL there and the gravel areas were miserable with a wheel chair. Loved the park, but like I said, some of the deep, fine gravel areas were miserable with the wheelchair.

Good to know. I realized after I typed that a stroller is of course much lighter than a wheelchair.

Yeah, we saw lots of strollers and we were like it should be ok, took about ten feet to show us how wrong we were.

We had our camper at the Lake Glory Campground, which is owned by Knoebals, and is located about five miles north of the park. We went to a local Red Deer farm and a storm came up.

We hauled butt back to the campground in one of the worst storms I've ever seen. We had left our awning tied down, with one end down. We got there just in time to watch our main roller snap in half where the mid support bar had caused the water to pool in the upper half of the awning. But, we were in good shape compared to those who were swimming in the lake to retrieve their tents and gear. Several units had awnings flipped over the roof with damage. It was later determined a F1 tornado had hit the campground.

They have a carnival at Marley station mall in one of the big parking lots. All asphalt. The aaco fair isnt bad, the top half is asphalt, the lower half is on dirt and in September we don't get much rain. Last year it was pretty easy getting around. Think about that if you decide on a fair, dry dirt gets really hard when there hasn't been any rain and easier to maneuver on wheels. If it's rained, it will be miserable.
