I have seen the Hammer in a couple hunting videos, it looks like an okay air rifle. The reservoir is 4500 so you are going to have to fill it from the pump. Most air tanks are only rated to 4500. I have never held a Umarex but it looks to be fairly well built. It does generate good muzzle energy and should work on any medium sized game. I shoot an AF Texan and it does okay too, but probably around a third less muzzle energy. They do make an upgrade kit for the AF Texan and with that upgrade performance is about the same.

Oh man, just read the specs. 3 consistent 3000psi shots with one less powerful followup for a max of 4 shots PER FILL. Ugh....

I guess they figure if you can afford the rifle, you can afford the electric pump.

I have a PCP with a 3000 PSI reservoir and I use a scuba tank to fill it. As the scuba tank gets depleted, I complement it with a hand pump. No way would I want to hand pump 4500 PSI.

I seriously doubt if I even have @$$ enough to pump to 4500. I had a hell of a time with 3K when I had my Texan. But it was a nice rifle though. But it definitely wasn't back yard, front yard or back and front yard friendly

I hear you one the @$$, 3000 is bad enough. I bought a small Chinese pump and it works okay. I don't know how long it will last but so far so good. The only thing I don't like about it is the ice water cooling system, a bucket of ice water and an estuary pump. I fill a small bottle with it and link it to the AF Texan SS while shooting. I am shooting hunting grade bullets, 350 grain, and they work pretty well. On a full reservoir I only get 3 or 4 good shots out of it but in a hunting situation that should suffice. I have been looking at the Air Venturi Nomad II. They cost around $700. I'll probably wait until needed since the Chinese pump still does what I need it to do. The Hammer looks like a good gun, but I am surprised it doesn't do better with a regulated reservoir.
