    Yeap.
Lets say the guy had a gun legally.
The youths didn't need a gun because they outnumber the victim. But if victim pulls a gun,and then 5 perps happen to pull a gun, most likely the victim dies, maybe taking one perp out in the process.

Just because you have a gun doesnt mean you can take out a whole team of bandits.
The way this ended the victim was just injured. If he had a gun and tried to use it, he probably would have died if the kids also had guns. If the kids didn't have guns, then as long as he could pull it out (with being sucker punched and sheer number of perps) then victim may have won this situation. But You never know....

No offense but you are setting up red herrings and strawman argument in most of your posts on this subject.

The issue is not what may happen in all possible cases, but whether you have good chance of reducing bad outcomes in many. and with a gun you do

And the victim here took two strikes that could have killed him or left him with permanent brain damage and it was just chance that this did not occur.

As far as your earlier comment on if the races had been reversed, was that serious? If they had been the media coverage would have been days of top national media coverage likely generating hundreds of stories nationwide.

As far as odds of it occurring the other way, the odds in DC where the racial breakdown is about 50/50 about 99% of violent crime goes one way, so it doesn't happen equally at all, not even close.

This Hilton attack was very likely a hate crime. It was heinous and could have easily ended with the victim dead, permanently bran damaged or paralyzed.

And in every state in the union lethal force would have been legally permitted, unless the extremely unlikely case he was attacking them off camera.

if he had had a gun the judgement of the exigencies and whether he should have used it (and 99% of the time drawing it would be sufficient), what we do know for certain is you and I do not know as much as the victim would have known about the odds of that reducing the attack, the point is he should have that option to prevent or deter the life threatening blows we clearly see inflicted on him.
