Got a Steyr Scout 308. Plan to use it as a target shooting rifle now. So will not consider a "scout scope"

The limit of this rifle is probably around 600 yards.

I want to spend no more than $500 for a FFP scope. Now down to two choices:

    PA的4-14X FFP 40 mm, $279.99, 3-year warranty

Or, Athlon BTP 2.5-15X FFP 50 mm, $399.99, life-time warranty

Any suggestions on these two? Any other options you would recommend?

Yes. I am aware of those free trainings. Not able to go this year. Not sure whether they offer it next year for this year's purchase.

Did you find the accuracy of your Scout decrease after consecutive shots due to the thin barrel?

You may also want to look at some of the Vortex offerings.

Since you picked up the Scout, I wanted to mention you can sign up for one of their free training classes in Alabama at the CMP Talladega facility.

I'm attending the Scout class being held in a couple of weeks. Mine is used as scout, so I have the Burris 2-7 on mine.

I have not really shot for accuracy (I have other rifles for that.) I have noticed the first couple of shots from a cold bore are very accurate. It does heat up noticeably quickly. I'm not surprised it would widen up as it heats up. The goal for the rifle was to make it as light as possible.

We are scheduled to shoot about 200+ rounds during the training, this will be a good chance to see how it performs with that many rounds.

Steyr Scout is a great rifle.

It is NOT a target shooting rifle. Wrong tool for the job.
