3rd Annual MDS New Years Day Trap day at CCGC-UPDATED

UPDATED INFO IN POST #24--WE ARE GOOD TO GO!!

In the absence of Lou45, I have spoken to the powers that be at Carroll County Gun Club and arranged our personal ranges for New Year's Day to continue this event for us here at Maryland Shooters.

The deal will be the same, starting at 9:00am until we're done. (We can fine tune the time, I think in the past we started our private shoot at 11) $4 per person per round. Bring your own shells or buy from the club.

New and experienced, all MDS'ers and family are welcome.

I am gauging interest now, so please RSVP here asap so I can let them know for sure.

I can post more details in the future, and please ask questions if you have them.

Help me continue this event that has been so much fun for our MDS family.

Any restrictions on calipers? What is the maxim range?

Caliper measurement should match the gauge stamped on the shotty.

Maxim range will be behind the clubhouse, but only if it's not too cold.

    :D:D

But seriously... Per the title in the OP this is a Trap range, so come ready to bust some clays!!!

Good on Raineman for doing this. It's a fitting tribute to Lou.

Pencil us in, but once again I doubt I'll get the wife to shoot. I'm also (as always) willing to help out noobs or the skittish.

I am usually a grammar nazi, but I'll abstain.

To answer what I think your question is, this is from CCGC website:

"Bar none, safety is our primary goal. For your safety and the safety of others, please respect and observe our Range Rules below:

    1. Eye and Ear protection is required (i.e. mandatory).
    2. No loads over 3 Drams (# DE) or 1250 fps.
    3. No loads containing more than 1 1/8 ounces of lead shot.
    4. No lead shot size larger than #7.5 - shot size #6 or larger are prohibited.
    5. All uncased guns must be open and unloaded at all times.
    6. All guns must be pointed down range at all times.
    7. Guns can only be loaded when shooter is set on their shooting position on the Trap field.

    No Rifles and/or Pistols Permitted!"

Aw man. Looked at last year's thread and found this:
"The first round I shot an 8, the second a 7, then it all went to shit after that." Thanks DC-W for the quote of the day and will prolly stick around for some time to come. :D:lol2::thumbsup::party29::bannana::rofl::clap:

I'll see if I can keep it all from going to shit in his honor.

Looks like (if my math is correct & with my crew) we have about 7 definite and 10 possible.

I am going to wait until after Christmas to get back in touch with them with the interest level. Not sure if our numbers so far will have them committing to a range(s) for us, so hopefully everyone can do some more "recruiting" and we can get some more folks.

My son-in-law has invited a couple non-MDS'ers and I told them maybe if they attend, they'll join the site. (??)

Anyway...pass the word so we can hopefully get some more folks.

as long as the weather cooperates.

This is a given as far as I am concerned, and something we'll monitor as we get closer.

I can deal with the cold, but if it is raining, I'm out for shooting, especially since I will be using my buddy's nice trap guns, ain't gettin' them soaked. If folks want to tough out rain, I'll come as an observer and to deal with the range/club guys.
