There’s a ruger no1 on gunbroker in 500 nitro express. Do you wanted lifted-ford raptor truck-wheels-outside-the-fenders-under 5’5” tall guy heavy hitter? 50 bmg.

Or do you want big game energy, 500 nitro.

I had a Browning Safari grade in .458 Win Mag, but traded it for a more practical Safari Grade .270. The biggest I have now are Browning Safari Grades in .375 H&H, .338 Win Mag, and 7mm Rem Mag.

Wolfshaker was kind enough to sell me this beast. Made in 1989, not fired since leaving the factory. Trigger is pretty good. I need rings and mounts and scope. Any suggestions?

Wow, really nice, trigger is probably adjustable but with this beast you don't want to go too light. I have always been happy with Leupold bases and rings, for strength the duel dovetail may be the best for this rifle, less screws to loosen.
Scopes for dangerous game rifles are usually small and low power, something like 1 to 5 variables, here is a Chuck Hawkes article,

You don't have to put one of those type on, any quality 3x to 9x would be fine.
I do know the name of a real good shoulder surgeon if needed:D:D

I was thinking about using a 3-gun type scope, since most of them have good 1x and can go to 6x or 8x, plus they're designed to not break under hard use.

I have never been to Africa. But from everything I have read, I would seek the advice of someone who knows this niche that 99.9% of people will probably never experience.

That said, whatever you wind up with, I would think it should be as rugged as possible, and I would also think it would have 1x capability. Maximum field of view and both eyes open comes to my mind at least, as being of primary importance. No small concern, if running game might well be running at me, and with an agenda that's sure to be a whole lot less than pleasant.

    Nice rifle!
