That looks like legal barrel length, plus it has the stock, so certainly not a pistol.

In the 1970's & 1980's, many Yugoslav small arms made their way to various African war zones. Anecdotes abound of communist insurgents firing rifle grenades using ball ammunition, with predictable results (obliterating the shooter).

Because they are a force multiplier.

Back during the Cold War they were not getting help from anyone thumbing their noses at the Soviets and U.S.

Therefore they had to come up with ways to increase their firepower with what little they had as a fighting force and defending a long, porous border so the rifle grenade made sense being a battle proven and cheap way to do it. It is also why they made it so it could be adapted to use U.S. grenades that were used sometimes to launch from the M1 Garand so they could have an endless supply if they were invaded by the U.S. for example.
