So I go to get my license at Dick's last night and they tell me my account is locked and I have to call DNR in order to get one. This morning I am trying to get a hold of anyone at DNR who can help me and evidently they are CLOSED today. This creates an issue since I am supposed to hunt geese tomorrow. I am very frusturated with this situation, I do realize that it is partly my fault that I waited too long, but I dont know why my account is locked?!?!? Any help or suggestions from anyone would be great!!

Not saying this is it since the OP was able to get a license via compass however, I believe this year they are supposed to be double checking ssn versus child support payments as a type of punishment for dead beat dads. Not sure what this says that the general opinion of hunters is but evidently we are not thought very high of to enact a law like that.

The law also requires checking for other types of licenses. One fish and game site said the SS# check is now required for professional and occupational licenses as well. Thank the Fed's for this, not the state. This is not just a hunting and fishing thing.

Same for driver licenses, business licenses, etc., in several states. They do what they can to crack down on deadbeats.

It really has nothing to do with hunters, fisherpeeps, or any specific group.
