When Dicks stopped selling modern rifles, they still had a bunch in their inventory. What are they going to do with them? Destroy them, of course!

Their store, their rules, but still...:wtf:

Geez. They could have at least donated them to some law enforcement organizations. There are plenty of small towns where a few extra AR’s in squad cars might have served a useful purpose.

I guess it further accentuates the real reason behind the decision. It’s a PR stunt to gain favor with gun hating, mini-van driving soccer moms. (No offense to those moms who own AR’s and love soccer)

I've got three kids all doing at last three sports per year, I coach, and my wife and I are both is active with yoga and running. My Dicks rewards account show I spent $700 to $1000 a year there the past five years.

My family had retail (not sports equipment) so I have always been a strong supporter of physical retail. I was a bit taken aback with their position in 2013, but that had to do with their own policy in their own stores. To me that was like a liquor store deciding to close at 9:00pm when they could be open to 10:00 pm or deciding to close on sundays, it did not bother me much

Their more recent actions include public pronouncement on what the laws should be -- as well as direct work of Dicks coordinating with gun ban lobby, which is an entire different matter and makes them an enemy of civil rights/liberties.

Since they took a an anti Second Amendment position a few month ago, I have been in twice, literally both times for my kids to try on new cleats, while I, while standing in the store ordered the cleats, soccer balls, shin guards, for them, and an additional $500 of parent donated funds in soccer equipment for the team, on amazon over the net. it was funny to spend the $500 from left wing parents on my Amazon smile account donating to the NRA even though the league gets those 20% off Dicks coupons :)

Saw David Hogg on Twitter today saying he was going to buy his Yeti Coolers at Dicks. Eff them both...

Good. I hope all the deluded who listen to his ilk follow suit.

He'll spend hundreds of his parents money on a $40 cooler meaning less money for gun grabbing, and he won't be able to return it once he's made this grand gesture because Dick's is going out of business.

    Win-win!

Bought two guns from Dick's years ago on sale. Never again. And I have a long memory I stopped buying from Hechinger when they were anti 2nd Amendment and you know what happened to them. Cheaper than Dirt is also on my boycott list for what they did during the ammo shortage. A person needs to have principles in life and to stand up for your principles means to be willing to put up with some inconvenience and expense.

Bravo! Never bought much from Dick’s either but now buy every thing from my LGS or drive 40 minutes to Cabella’s. Also ended a 30+ year relationship with BOA. Pain in the a** transfering accts etc but you’re right it is the princple.

So expensive, and now anti-Constitution. With my kids now grown I don't expect to ever shop there again. They can dedicate their "lodge" to more overpriced crap for soccer moms.

Will avoid unless it serves to my convenience. I hadn't stepped foot in the store, but needed a pair of cleats for the 4 y/o's tee ball and so I did stop in and grab a pair.

Hechinger was not put out of business because of their 2A stance it was because Home Depot sold things at or below cost to torpedo a regional franchise. Hechinger used to have price match plus another 10% off similar item. At the time HD was USG Drywall seller at like 2.97 a sheet Hechinger was GP at 3.17 a sheet. Hechinger would sell it if customer brought it up at 2.67 a sheet. With harry homeowner not a big deal but we would have contractors coming and buying forklift loads. HD strategy was to destroy the competitions bottom line by also taking a hit on the bottom line with the stores they had in the area.

For whatever it was, it put an anti-gun company out of business so that works for me. :D

I purchased a couple of 44's recently and was dying to try them out. I was out of 44 ammo and nobody had any range ammo in stock. Out of desperation, I went into dicks and after 10 minutes of waiting for someone to show up in the firearms section, they didn't have any 44 in stock either.

I inquired if they had any coming in and the guy said it was hard to tell. Apparently Dick's is now considering eliminating all ammunition from their stores that they deem dangerous to the public. Bird shot would still be sold but 5.56, 9mm and other popular rounds may go away. The counter guy was a monosynaptic cretin so who knows how accurate the information was.

"Our firearms policy changes impacted our hunt business which saw an accelerated decline," chief financial officer Lee Belitsky told analysts on the company's conference call. "We expect these businesses to remain under significant pressure throughout the remainder of the year our brief existence."

Fixed it for him. If he thinks this will be forgotten by next hunting season, he is delusional. Not so much the no-longer selling MSR's, but working with the ban crowd is going to stick to them. LGS's and mom-and-pop sporting goods stores need to have a "Don't be a Dick" marketing campaign in early Fall.
