Yesterday I was helping my unkle and cousin install their cmmg lower parts kit into their anderson lowers and everything fit fine except the pivot pins. They were huge and no where near the size they should be! Ive never used their lpk before and was wondering if anybody else has encountered this problem?

LPKs come set up for two different lowers. Large pin and small pin. Most non-mil lowers use small pin kits. You may have ordered or gotten the wrong kits for your lowers.

A 308 parts kit possibly? Were they to long or just to wide?

They may be oversized pins for an old Colt Sporter.... But I'm guessing it's their 308 kit.

+2 on the 308 LPK if it is the pivot and takedown pins.. the other difference would be the bolt catch (larger and beefier on the 308 vs a 223.

Large pin vs small pin is referring to the Colt style trigger/hammer pins, they are larger in diameter than most lower holes.. lol

Colt also made oversized pivot pins, which is why adapters are sold.

I would be surprised if a 308 bolt catch even fit on a standard AR lower.

Pivot pin is bigger than take down pin, holes are same size and the take down pin fits the upper but not the pivot pin. He found the right size pins at his local gs and i talked him through the install earlier. I had him check and the lpk was not for a 308. Oh well.

    Large pivot pin was 0.315"

    Normal pivot pin is 0.250"

Colt being stupid to try to keep libs off their back.

Large pivot pin. Large trigger group pins. Sear Block.

My HBAR from about 1995 has the large trigger group pins, the sear block, but the normal pivot pin (although the two piece screw together type).

ADCO fixed the pivot pin to a push type. Duffy's is milling out the sear block. Geissele large pin trigger group. :)
