So? I want to get a Ruger American rimfire for my kids to learn and practice on...so that I can borrow it and easily swap the butt pad.

Sounds like a plan!
Got to the range, sighted in, and shot for groups at 100 yards. It did about 1.5" groups with Remington corelokt and Hornady whitetail. 3" or greater with federal fusion.

I see you got the Predator version with the threaded barrel. Nice pick-up. Where did you get that cool cheek rest setup on your stock?
When I dropped into the Atlantic Guns Super Sale late last month to buy accessories, I looked over this same Predator in 6.5 Creedmore plus Vortex 3-12x40 scope combo, for sale THAT day for $550. Unbelievably tempting!

This is the cheekrest. Between that and a slip on recoil pad, I got the rifle to fit me well. You may or may not need either, but at 6'6", my LOP and cheek height don't fit most standard guns.
