If the $$$$$$$$ wasn't removed (stolen???) from the State's transportation fund to use elsewhere (prolly for less than meaningful purposes), we most likely wouldn't need this new raise in the gas tax.
These taxes always work out so well... Like the cigarette tax and alcohol taxes which both drove buyers out of state resulting in Less revenue, and that millionaire tax a couple years ago where all the millionaires moved out and took their tax dollars with them. Stupid is as stupid does. Buying my gas in VA from now on.

gas tax. rain tax. wind tax. sun tax. one thing you can be sure that will never be taxed is farts, because that would directly hit the politicians, particularly during the legislative session.
