I don't like magnified red dots; I'd just assume have a plain old red dot, or, a fixed 3X etched prism sight.

I've shot Steel Challenge with an Eotech and a 1-4X scope on separate occasions. For upclose and multiple targets, my times with the Eotech were significantly faster than the scope. But due to my eyes being 50 years old now, I need the 1-4x or 1-6x for multigun/3-gun, where I'm engaging targets from 5 to 300+ yards, sometimes on the same stage!
