Nailed it. But seriously, I do remember seeing this talked about. Nobody offered up a link to this page, so I figured someone would appreciate this.

It might just be a tad bit more easy to move to a state in which the rights of their citizenry is held as sacred, or to higher esteem than our dear home state holds the rights of those to whom they govern. Secession would only leave a small red oasis in the midst of a sea of blue.

I really do not like to say that.

Secession from the state of Maryland is a pipe dream.

Secession requires the approval of both the State legislature, as well as the US Congress. Neither of those legislative bodies will ever allow the formation of a RED state, with two Republican US Senators, a Republican US Congressman, and a Republican Governor.

While it's a wonderful fantasy, it will NEVER happen.

    Hey, it work once.

    Yup. 1776.

But we don't sell it as secession, but as a reorganization. The borders of DC get redrawn. MD loses Western, Southern, and Eastern Shore counties, gains the residential areas of DC, possibly Arlington & Fairfax counties from VA. The former MD counties are free to realign as they please. Southern MD goes with VA, Western MD probably with WV. No idea of the fate of the Eastern Shore.

The obvious objection is that DE isn't much of an improvement over MD.

Now, if you could get Wilmington and Philadelphia to form an urban statelet, a Delmarva state would be very pleasant.

Maybe the guy referred to in the OP should head to TX... some politicians have spoken about this there in the past. He'd fit right in....lol, not.

No if you could just extend the Mason-Dixon line you'd be set!
