Lawyers: Explain HB1512 to me

Del. Dwyer put this bill in today. I trust he did it for good reason, but need it explained to me. It seems to repeal the exemption for off-duty LEOs to carry in school zones.

First off, your primary mistake is assuming that a lawyer has a better grip of the English language than you do, or that they understand the law.

It will allow off duty police to carry on school property. A small step toward sanity. Baby steps.

Reading through all the LEO exemptions that are removed, it looks like Del Dwyer's goal (this is just my guess) is to return LEO as much as possible to the status of ordinary citizens. To not allow any special exemptions for LEOs.

I doubt it is likely to pass, but it is a good effort nonetheless.
