Call Oglebay resort and try for one of their fireplace rooms. Def worth it. Will be nice and fit all of your needs.

Thanks. Is Uber a thing we can depend on up there or is it too small of a town?

Yes Uber does exist. I've used it there a few times. Might have to wait a bit cause I bet they don't have all that many drivers.

Hampton Inn isn't a bad place and TJs is a walk across the street. However it is a standard hotel. Oglebay can be more resort feel if you book the correct room.

I get everyone's standard of "nice" is different but I don't want a hole in the wall dump. It is a Christmas gift so I don't mind spending up a bit on the hotel to have a good experience.

I figure dinner, show, and maybe a trip to the hotel bar is about the extent of the trip. The next day we'd be back to Western MD with family.

I went to the Capitol Theater two weeks ago for the symphony and there were no hotels downtown that stood out as anything Iíd want to stay at. I canít really provide much more than that. Oglebay was always THE place to stay there, but Iím willing to bet itís in dire need of some updates at this point.

As for dinner, check out Center Street Market area. We ate at Wheeling Brewing Company and the food and beers were excellent. I had the twin filets and they were perfect. There seemed to be another restaurant or two on the block that looked decent but I canít speak to those.

I used to visit that area when I was younger. If you like little pizza shops then DiCarlos on Main St in Wheeling was always good. The Cabelas is cool. I believe they had a big pond in the middle when I was there 10-12 years ago.

No advice for the places to stay.

Thanks. We got one of the "better" looking rooms at Oglebay's. I'm not expecting a 5 star resort but when they are charging 150 and plenty of others are 39.99 I'm hoping we are headed in the right direction.

Admittedly I've turned into a bit of a hotel snob but I think we have to be realistic at some point.

Iím confident Oglebay will be nice. Just not ďbrand new, modern nice.Ē Just a hunch, as I havenít actually been there in a LONG time.

I may actually try to grab tickets for that show too.

Did the in-laws 50th there a few years back, and youíll not be disappointed with oglebay. And a class reunion in a cabin in the early 00ís. Food was good in the restaurant.

Price may be a little higher than a road side joint but it is nice.

Lots of deer to take pics of. Around dawn and dusk. Drive carefully. THEY ARE THICK!
