    Star P disassembly help

I need some help disassembling a Star model P. The manual is vague on a couple things and the videos I have watched aren't jiving with what I got going on.

If anyone would be willing to help me via phone and text, please send me a pm.

    Thanks

    Jim

Are you talking complete teardown, knocking out pins, etc?
I've never done a P (only A/B, 1920:1922) but I can tell you from experience don't pull the trigger and trigger bar out unless you absolutely have to, 99% chance you'll bend the bar.

I've used this manual, if you don't have it I can post the relevant pages.

Yes. Complete. Too late, trigger out. Had to, this thing is rough. I got the frame stripped, and the problem is that the safety spring and plunger are either seized inside the hammer pin, or I just don't know how to get it out. Any advice?

The tear down went pretty well. I haven't messed with the slide yet. I'll deal with that once I get the frame squared away.

    I have that manual.

probably just needs a good soaking in penetrating oil, and maybe a little heat action.
by definition it should move freely otherwise, why have it?
I just pulled out the Model B hammer pin from the bag-o-parts I stripped off a frame, but there's no plunger or spring in it -
so it must have come out pretty easily and gotten lost :)
It's just a straight hole along the centerline of the pin.

IIRC getting the sear back in place was the fun part.

That's good stuff, Good luck! Maybe a light endwise tap or two with a small punch to loosen it up once it's soaked for a while...

No dice. It won’t move. Tried heat as well. In the freezer now.

Can’t find any P parts online (hammer pin, safety spring and plunger).

This is the kind of whatever you call it I’m dealing with on most of the exterior surfaces .

This is an area under the grip that I used a brass brush with Marvel Mystery oil and then polished with compound. Its smooth now and doesn’t look to have scratched the blueing, but I think thats as good as I am getting it.

Am I at the point of having to go down the re-blueing road?
