If you could submit ONE SINGLE BILL to the MGA affecting gun rights/personal safety--

1: What would be the focus of your bill? (What would be the bill's title?)
2: What groups would you recruit to support your bill?
3: How important is this bill to you? (Scale of 1—not that important -- to 5—extremely important)

A law banning Prius’s, work vehicles and tractor trailers from the left lane on roads with 3 or more lanes. I can deal with work vehicles and tractor trailers if I had to for a compromise though

If John and Jane Citizen can’t get a W&C on the merits of self-defense; neither can legislators, district attorneys, judges, etc. Also, no armed MSP security for them. They want armed guards, they pay out of pocket.

Come on folks , this is the Md 2A subforum , and the first post specifies relating to firearms and/ or personal defense .

    *******

And taking the question as written , I'm pretty much stumped . Already a crap ton of very desirable Bills get introduced , and then never get out of Committee . But intoducing Bills that even the co-sponsors know have zero chance of passing is mostly political masterbation , with slight PR value .

Statewide Edged Tool Premption , w/o grandfathering could actually have a double digit percentage of passing . We could spin it as memorializing Freddy Grey .

It's probably not bulletproof, but it's a start:

    1. Right to Keep & Bear Arms Restoration & Strong Sentencing Act: Repeals all laws that mention the words: "firearm", "gun", "rifle", "pistol", "revolver", "handgun", "shotgun", "muzzleloader", "machine gun", "machine pistol", "bow", "crossbow", "arrow", "weapon", "knife", "ammunition", "magazine", "clip", "stock", "trigger", "gun part" "smokeless powder", "black powder", "bullet", "projectile", or plurals thereof, except for those laws that involve the use of such words related to hunting or committing crimes of any kind. Substantially increase sentences for those crimes that are committed with such. Adds that all such described by said words may be lawfully and freely: owned, loaned, given, sold, transferred, possessed, transported, carried, inherited, and used for any and all lawful purposes and may not be preempted or restricted for any reason by existing or future local, city, county, or state laws and/or ordinances. Further rights to other activities involving such shall not be restricted by the text of this law.

I wish they had just a few laws , please get rid of the laws that are outdated . But we need the right to protect ourselves by any means , we deserve that without restrictions .

Any new MD 2A law passed should be outcome based. They get 3 years max to produce statistically quantifiable results that are independently reviewed. Any law that fails this test automatically sunsets and shall not be reintroduced in any similar form for at least 10 years.

Furthermore, sunseted/failed laws, there sponsors, and those that voted for it will be posted in there own special (wall of shame section) on Maryland.gov website. Information on failed laws will also include total cost to gov to implement & enforce (wasted), total cost to MD residents to comply (wasted), and reviewed outcome summary.
