so has to be 50 years. it is automatically c&r at 50 years, or is there a list or something?

Yep, at 50 years its automatically C&R. There is a way you can get newer firearms on the list but I'm not familiar enough with it to speak on it other than to say its relatively complicated.

thanks. sounds like the way to go, no have to deal with as much red tape. maybe there's more red tape with c&r. so in a few years that very modern designed revolver will be a c&r, wow.

I think you just have to petition the ATF to put a firearms, either the individual one or the model, on the list.

“Pretty please” on stickie note isn’t going to cut it. Good rationale and coming from someone like a museum currator or someone who could be considered to have good knowledge on the collectability of the Firearms is going to pull more weight.

That’s why some things like the Cz-82 are on there. Czechoslovakia doesn’t exist anymore. So their sidearms are considered C&R even though some were made in the very early 90s AFAIK.

Not unless you are a museum curator.

    Walther P1 "Hex" at AIM

OK, so I freely admit I'm a P38 snob and don't really go in for the surplus, mis-match import stuff.
But I figured I give the AIM P1's a shot and glad I did.

The one that came today is dated 2/80, unissued / zero wear, not a rework and original factory-matched parts (fat slide, barrel, forged block numbered to the frame).
The import mark is a neat stamp on right side of slide, hardly visible.
Other than some light scuffing on the slide due to AIM's poor packing, it's minty.

I was skeptical but very pleasantly surprised and if I wasn't strapped for cash I'd buy a couple more to squirrel away.

I realized I never posted my P1 when it arrived!

Only pic I have handy, but very clean. I did swap the front and rear sight to a later white dot set. As it was shooting way low. A dab of red paint on the front sight as the white dot was all but worn off. New recoil springs went in today and a new +5% mag spring in my P38 mag (leaving the two P1 mags that came with alone for the moment).

Just curious if a new mag spring with get standard pressure 115gr JHP to feed well or not. If I can’t after trying a few types, not a big deal. FMJ feed flawlessly on my one range trip (JHP was about a 20% failure rate).

11/63 manufacture and very, very little wear.

Also my pimp guns that I can dual wield now!

I mean, polish guns. Weird autocorrect. A new hammer and recoil spring are going in the smoother one and the other is getting left for if or when prices ever go up. Both are 1964 manufacture and early serial numbers.

Took a chance on an Aim chipped grim CZ82. Looks pretty rough. The chipped paint doesn't concern me, but the scrape marks on the top of the barrel do. None of my othe CZ82 have anywhere near the marks that this has. Not sure if I can get a good picture.

The new one is on the right in the end to end picture and on the left of the side by side pictures.

My Cz50 has some similar scratches to that around the chamber on the barrel. Frame and slide look good. Shoots real nice and real accurate.

So how does the new/well use Cz82 shoot?

    ^very nice!!

Here are a couple fairly recent pickups of mine. Checked another pair off my WWII German military pistol collection. Two German Army marked guns, Mauser 1934 e/655 marked and a minty WaA359 marked Walther PP.
