My oldest brother just sent this. First one he has seen. He was at a clients house off Bennett point road.

    Ummm.... tender venison.

    Cute little guy.

I hate picking fights with PHDs but, you sure he's a he? Doe fawns have a 'swirl' right were antlers would be. Hard for me to see from my cellie though. :)

You are right though. 'Chelsea' is cute as a button.

Is this why I"m seeing so many large dead does on the road?
Are they running around to separate from the rest of the deer?

I wondered about that, too. Drove to Winchester and back on Tuesday, and counted 4-5 bambi-burgers on the side of the road. Real shame. Isn't that unusual for this time of year?

They're establishing new territory and proliferating. At the end of the summer bucks will be getting hit.

^^^This. The does are spreading back out to their birthing grounds and summer habitat.

As for the bucks, a lot(not all) will break up when they get 'hard-horned'. In a lot of cases, if mama is no longer around, a buck will take up residence. That depends on a lot of other things too, though.

Excellent quality picture. The wife even liked it. :)

Thanks. At lunch I just had the cell phone, but then later I went back with a better camera.

The first time it didn't move at all. Not even it's ears, and barely moved it's eyes to track me. When I went back it moved it's ears and eyes, and it's nose kept curling up, trying to get a good whiff of me. I didn't want to do any "imprinting" on a very young animals, so I got away quickly then.

I found a fawn a couple of years ago on the side of Rte. 40 between Aberdeen and Havre de Grace. There was a dead doe nearby and I think it was it's mother. I led it back away from the road but I think it was starving. I found a fawn skeleton on the other side of 40 later so I don't think the fawn made it.

I almost hit a fawn mowing a week or two ago. Had no clue it was there until it popped up about 5 feet from the deck and then hobbled off. By the way it walked/ran, it had to have been quite fresh.
