    Where they send me.
With either one, I would bring it home and run it a lot ASAP since the warranty on them is often pretty short.

If it runs well for a month I would expect it to run for many years of limited use. What you don't want to do is let it sit for 90 days and then find out it doesn't run right.

I would go HF. Buy 2 for the $$ if need be.

I need an electric motor for a DIY project. The motor will run for a couple of hrs. several times a year. Nothing major, hobby project not life saving.
    Here's my question.
HF 1/2 hp $119 vs TSC 1/2 hp $189. Now with coupon I can save more on the HF model.
I hate HF as a rule but! $70 is $70!
Anybody have experience with HF or TSC motors?
    Thanks

I have a new electric cloths dryer motor I'd sell you for 50 bucks, let me know.

Thanks for all the replies. I have a buddy dropping off a fan motor tomorrow. It should work for me. Spacing and portability of the mounting and power transmission may dictate otherwise.
    Thanks for the help.

What is your application? Fan motors generally have a low starting torque if that matters.
